Did you know, that one of the most effective home remedies for hard water is the use of vinegar?
Add 20 to 30 drops of your favorite essential oil to 1 gallon of white vinegar to make your own fabric softener. Shake well. Add 1 cup of this to your rinse cycle for large loads or ½ cup for regular loads. The vinegar will be completely washed out by the end of the rinse cycle. Vinegar also acts as a fabric softener, which will also lessen your need for additional additives.
You can also use vinegar without the essential oils, and it works the same way, without the added scent.
